We are in our 7th year and it is going to be bigger and better than ever, with a large number of Exhibitors from around the world, together with those well known and respected dealers in the pen community, and much, much more. Typically the show has attracted dealers from all over the world primarily because of its ease of movement by air. Referred to as the crossroads to the world the New York - New Jersey area has always been a stopping point for air travelers and a major destination for visitors and tourists. Now with the strength of the euro many European buyers are flocking to the states for their purchases and we welcome them.

A pen show is a kaleidoscope of experiences. It’s like walking through a museum with fascinating art from diverse eras of the past. It’s like going to a library and finding books you never knew existed on subjects of surprising interest. It’s like visiting a zoo and being amazed at the color, size, culture and variety of the animals from some unfamiliar part of the world. Many persons today are under the impression that fountain pens are a thing of the past and are quite shocked to see the displays of modern pens for sale…not just ballpoints and rollerballs, but fountain pens as well and mechanical pencils that match them. Far from being a thing of the past, numerous companies are producing beautiful quality fountain pens today, in a dizzying array of colors and styles. And there are vintage pens in great numbers still around from the past 100 years.

More fine writing instruments than ever seen in Philadelphia Today, computers dominate the way we write. But when the cold keyboard can be avoided, more and more of us enjoy the old-fashioned pleasure of writing with a fountain pen…or sometimes, just carrying one. Like fine mechanical watches, custom made suits and handcrafted jewelry, fine pens have become a must-have status symbol. Is it throwback to the old days? Undoubtedly, yes. A status symbol? Sure. But it’s more. A distinctive fountain pen, or a high-quality rollerball or ballpoint is a very personal item that expresses our individuality. We like the way a good pen looks in our pocket or impresses when we brandish it and ceremoniously remove the cap (Isn’t the pen mightier, after all?). And we love the way a carefully chosen pen fits our hand, glides across good paper and reacts as we write, leaving infinitely varied lines and shading that express not only our words, but our mood, our feelings, even our very personality.

21st Los Angeles International Pen Show @ Manhattan Beach Marriott

The Los Angeles International Pen Show is one of the largest pen shows in the world, if not the largest. The 2008 Show featured more than 175 exhibitor tables with over 20 countries in attendance and we expect the number of foreign attendees to increase in 2009. The 2009 Show will take place on Sunday, February 15, 2009.
